63rd Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution

Nikos Mottas

In Defense of Communism | January 02, 2022

The Cuban Revolution inspired and continues to inspire the workers-people’s struggles in all over the world, proving the vitality of the Marxist-Leninist worldview and the significance of proletarian internationalism. Figures such as Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos, Vilma Espin, Fran Pais and others became eternal symbols of the revolutionary working class movement throughout the world.

Under the leadership of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz and with the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union and other socialist states, Cuba achieved a number of extraordinary – unprecedented in Latin America – achievements in sectors such as Health, Education, Womens’ Rights, Culture, Sports, etc.

Address by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz at Céspedes Park in Santiago de Cuba, on the 1st of January of 1959

On January 1, 1959, the Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro overthrew the U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Compatriots of Cuba, all:

We have finally reached Santiago. (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE) The road has been long and tough, but we have arrived. (APPLAUSE)

It was being said that today at 2 o’clock in the afternoon we were being expected in the capital of the Republic and I was the first person to be amazed (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE) because I was one of the first people to have been surprised by that traitorous and confabulated coup this morning in the capital of the Republic.

Furthermore, I was going to be in the capital of the Republic, I mean in the new capital of the Republic (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE), because Santiago de Cuba will be the capital, according to the wishes of the provisional president, according to the wishes of the Rebel Army and according to the wishes of the people of Santiago de Cuba who so highly deserve it. (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE) Santiago de Cuba will be the provisional capital of the Republic! (SHOUTING AND APPLAUSE)

The War on Cuba—excellent documentary series exposing the naked criminality of US foreign policy

Edited by Patrice Greanville

The Greanville Post | July 22, 2021

Absent an outright military attack, the US is applying to Cuba the same old formula that eventually undermined the mighty Soviet Union: Permanent economic warfare by all possible means, reinforced by an aggressive disinformation campaign designed to destroy the target population’s morale and faith in their own system.

Cuban journalist Liz Oliva is our guide to the series.

The repugnant evil of US policy toward Cuba is undeniable and in the open; it’s been so for decades—six and counting—and yet no one can do much about it because the rulers of the US, the billionaires that comprise its sociopathic oligarchy, will not lift their crippling economic embargo on the island, a polite term for economic warfare. And they can’t be forced to remove their sanctions—completely illegal from the standpoint of international law—because they hide behind America’s bloated military muscle and a thick wall of disinformation loyally operated by the system’s prostituted media. We know why this is being done. Cuba is hated and demonised by US ruling elites and their accomplices around the globe for the same reasons the Soviet Union and Communist China, and more recently Venezuela, Nicaragua and Iran have also been hated and feared: they provide a living demonstration that humanity has much better choices than the “American Way of Life,” that is, irrational and savagely predatory capitalism.

Protests in Cuba: defend the revolution!

Jorge Martín

In Defence of Marxism | July 12, 2021

The situation in Cuba is serious. On Sunday 11 July, there were protests in various towns and cities in Cuba that have enjoyed widespread coverage in the international media (how could it be otherwise?) Where do these protests come from? What is their character? How should we, as revolutionaries, respond?

The protests began in San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa province, 26 km southwest of the capital Havana. The immediate motivation for the protests, which brought hundreds of people to the streets in San Antonio, were prolonged and constant power outages. But this factor must be added to an accumulation of problems, which have become particularly serious since the beginning of the pandemic 16 months ago: shortages of basic products, shortages of medicines, the fall in the purchasing power of wages. Added to all of this is the worsening of the pandemic in recent days, with the arrival of new, much more contagious variants, at a time when only 15-20% of the population have been fully vaccinated, putting the healthcare system under a lot of strain in several provinces.

Cease lies, infamy and hatred. Cuba is deeply allergic to hatred.   And it will never be a land of hatred!

Fake news against Cuba and how to detect them Photo: Taken from Twitter

Cuba is under fire from a cyber attack, one of the techniques used as part of the unconventional war that has been waged against our nation.

Computer aggression includes the attack on institutional digital platforms and the country’s press media; and the media bombardment is based on the manipulation of all possible audiences based on speculation about fictitious realities and the sowing of terror or discontent in the population.

News montages are becoming more common every day. People and the media at the service of the economic and political interests that move behind what has happened in Cuba since Sunday, July 11, build parallel narratives using various tools, including false news or fake news.
