Party Political Bureau member and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla denounces Creative Associates International as a front for the U.S. government to design soft coups in our country and others
Party Political Bureau member and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla recently denounced Creative Associates International as a front for the U.S. government to design soft coups and overturn the government in our country and others. The Foreign Minister shared an investigation on his Twitter account conducted by MintPress News on Washington’s use of this company to impose its hegemonic agenda around the world: “With a presence today in at least 85 countries, it employs soft power techniques and designs operations to produce regime change and political transitions,” Rodríguez stated.
8. US senses that Taliban is reality – Implications
This week will stand out as a pivotal moment in President Joe Biden’s presidency. It has been a humble moment yet bold and decisive, far-sighted but tactical, and focused on America’s self-interests. It underscores that the US’ capacity to force its will on other countries (or even non-state actors) has dramatically diminished.
To Biden’s detractors and critics, this might seem a moment of weakness — that the CIA Director William Burns had to travel to Kabul to seek a concession from the Taliban leadership to extend the August 31 deadline for the evacuations at Kabul Airport, which the Taliban political chief Mullah Ghani Baradar plainly refused.

9. A political windfall for Taliban
The horrific terrorist strikes in Kabul on Thursday which killed at least 12 US servicemen and dozens of civilians will lead to a higher level of cooperation between the US and the Taliban.
The commander of CENTCOM Gen. Kenneth McKenzie disclosed to journalists on Thursday that the US was already sharing information on terror threats in Afghanistan with Taliban. As he put it, “We share versions of this information with the Taliban so that they actually make searches… We think they’ve thwarted some.”
10. Taliban has a package deal with US. Coast is clear for new government in Kabul.
The US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan discussed today in an interview with CBS “Face the Nation” the evolving relationship between Washington and the Afghan Taliban. Three things emerge.
First, Sullivan disclosed that “over-the-horizon strikes” against the ISIS-K from outside Afghanistan will continue but he ruled out any return to combat missions.
There are titles whose absurdity infuses the subject with a chilling charm. Take Thomas de Quincey’s Murder Regarded as One of the Fine Arts, a daring essay in black humor that judges murder from an aesthetic point of view. The same inconsistency is attempted by Richard Nephew in his volume The art of sanctions: a view from the field (Columbia University Press, Columbia, 2018) as a gravely serious attempt to elevate America’s criminal practices against mankind to ornamental status.
In recent years, Washington has ramped up its regime-change efforts against Caracas through a wide-reaching, devastating economic blockade. In particular, the US Treasury Department has levied a raft of measures targeting Venezuela’s oil sector in an attempt to starve the country of foreign income. The unilateral sanctions have crippled the country’s most important industry.
In the following infographic, designed by Utopix’s Kael Abello, we detail the US sanctions against the oil industry and the resulting fall in output.

On 3 August, The Canary exposed how Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Guaidó’s UK legal costs were paid with money appropriated from the Venezuelan state.
In an effort to access roughly US$2bn of Venezuelan gold held in the Bank of England, it was reported that Guaidó’s legal team drew on hundreds of thousands of dollars originally seized from the Central Bank of Venezuela in the US.
We can now reveal that this figure is significantly higher. According to official documents, Guaidó and his appointees have given over US$6.5m to powerhouse legal firms as part of a campaign to bleed the Venezuelan state of its foreign assets.
Almost all of this money was sent in a series of instalments to Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP – the legal firm representing Guaidó in the UK.
The US government will (perhaps within a month) probably succeed in extraditing businessman Alex Saab from Cape Verde. His “crime” was being an official envoy for the Venezuelan government as he attempted to negotiate the sale of medicines from Iran to Venezuela. US sanctions have declared such activity illegal. Saab was on his way to Iran when authorities in Cape Verde imprisoned him on behalf of the US. That’s where Saab has remained for over a year. I’ve explained in a recent piece in FAIR.org that US sanctions on Venezuela are criminal under the UN Charter. But the US government acts as if its illegal orders were international law. With enough firepower, you can get away with behavior that would otherwise be seen by everyone as delusional. But there are limits to US power.
Saab may be extradited at the same time the US media is going hysterical over the defeat that US imperialism just suffered in Afghanistan. Make no mistake. It was a defeat. Biden could only stay in Afghanistan by very conspicuously relaunching the USA’s twenty-year old invasion – pouring US troops back into Afghanistan that it has spent a decade taking out claiming that its puppets were able to stand on their own.
The country leads a proposal to create new integration mechanisms.
The Government of the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, proposed this weekend to disappear the Organization of American States (OAS) and create a new regional body to suppress interventionism.
During the Seventh Plenary Meeting of Senators of the ruling National Regeneration Movement party (Morena), Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reiterated that the OAS must disappear.
We have sound and clear signals from Latin America that its people want progressive anti-imperialist governments that promote real democracy, sovereignty and well-being for all, and not only for a small minority of privileged oligarchs. They have realised that the US imposed capitalist-centred neoliberal model does not work. Peruvians have also joined recently in this left-wing movement, together with Mexicans, Argentinians, Cubans, Venezuelans, Bolivians, Nicaraguans, with the election of working class Pedro Castillo as president. If Washington was hoping to see a coup by the Keiko Fujimori faction taking place in Lima, like it happened in Bolivia in 2019 by the opponents of Evo Morales, the wait was in vain and likely disappointing.
During a special virtual meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), that brought together its 34 active member countries, the government of Bolivia reiterated its motion to initiate an investigation against Secretary General Luis Almagro and his putschist agenda.
Bolivian Foreign Affairs Minister Rogelio Mayta denounced the OAS for its renewed and unjustified attack on Bolivia, after Almagro reaffirmed, on August 9, that a fraud had taken place in the 2019 Bolivian presidential elections.
