As a tsunami of crocodile tears engulfs Western politicians, history is suppressed. More than a generation ago, Afghanistan won its freedom, which the United States, Britain and their “allies” destroyed.
In 1978, a liberation movement led by the People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) overthrew the dictatorship of Mohammad Dawd, the cousin of King Zahir Shar. It was an immensely popular revolution that took the British and Americans by surprise.
Foreign journalists in Kabul, reported the New York Times, were surprised to find that “nearly every Afghan they interviewed said [they were] delighted with the coup”. The Wall Street Journal reported that “150,000 persons … marched to honour the new flag …the participants appeared genuinely enthusiastic.”

The Taliban has warned that there will be consequences if the Biden Administration were to extend the timeline for its deployment at Kabul Airport beyond August 31. The G7 meeting that Britain has called for Tuesday regarding Afghanistan will take a call on the timeline.
Britain is pressing for extension (backed by France and Germany) while President Biden remains ambivalent despite the war lobby in America piling pressure on him.
Biden calls Cuba a “failed state”, but there is nothing more failed than the US government’s “creative” attempts over 60 years to change the regime on the island. Sorry, yes there is, it’s the way Miami terrorists and extortionists have duped US governments over the same period.
On Friday, 16 July, on the White House lawn before boarding the helicopter for his Camp David retreat, Joe Biden told CNN that “misinformation on the networks is killing us”. In particular, the US President was referring to posts on the digital network Facebook about the vaccination against COVID-19 and accused the company of doing nothing to prevent them.
Facebook is the same company that operates WhatsApp, and on both networks there have been many false news stories related to the COVID-19 pandemic in Cuba. But if the President, the Prime Minister or any other Cuban leader were to say what Biden said, the media and influencer apparatus that his government funds against the island would immediately set about lynching the author of such a phrase in the name of “freedom of expression”.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico in his inaugural speech itself had called neoliberalism a “disaster” and a “calamity.” The leftist political party, MORENA, to which he belongs, had stated in its program: “The global economic crisis has revealed the failure of the neoliberal model. The economic policy imposed by the international financial organizations leads to the fact that Mexico is one of the countries with the slowest growth.” MORENA’s program had proposed instead that the “State should assume responsibility to lead development without foreign interference”.
With this perspective, Obrador has been putting in place a range of economic changes that represent a turn away from neoliberalism and the re-institution of a dirigiste regime that had become complete anathema for that country’s leadership for the past several decades.
Not surprisingly, Obrador is being attacked by the western press for this temerity, with the London-based magazine, The Economist, in its end-May issue putting his picture on its front cover under the title “Mexico’s False Messiah”.

It is an irrefutable fact that the United States orchestrated, financed and unleashed the violent coup attempt in 2018 against the democratically elected FSLN government. Spokespeople of the US establishment, from former president Trump, extreme right-wing senators and deputies, all the way down the food chain of its formidable ‘regime change’ machinery, including National Security Advisor John Bolton, the CIA, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and, of course, USAID, repeatedly stated their aim was to bring about ‘regime change’ in Nicaragua. In this connection, the significance of US Nicaraguan proxies is ephemeral and purely utilitarian (does anybody remember Adolfo Calero, Miami-based Contra leader?). Such proxies are activated to sow chaos, violence and confusion to facilitate a US-driven ‘regime change’ intervention, but for the huge US democracy-crushing machine, when plans do not work, its proxies are disposable human assets. In the 2018 coup attempt, the operatives on the ground, disguised as civil society bodies committed to the rule of law, democracy, civil liberties, human rights and other fake descriptions, were in fact US-funded proxies entrusted with the task to bring down the FSLN government by means of violence. The resistance of the Nicaraguan people defeated the coup and thus the nation will go to the polls in November 2021, prompting the US ‘regime change’ apparatus to launch, in despair, an international campaign aimed at demonizing the electoral process itself.
