Since I was a boy, as long as I can remember, I always thought of him as a giant. As an adult, I admired his profound, revolutionary conviction, his uncompromising anti-imperialism, his resolute struggle against any vestige of discrimination or injustice, no matter how small, and also for his loyalty to Martí’s thought, and his personal example of never being affected by vanity or ambition regarding any position or honor, because as Martí said, “All the world’s glory could fit in a kernel of corn.”

As legal experts and human rights advocates overnight and Monday morning continued to denounce the tear gassing of children and other asylum seekers by U.S. forces at the Mexico border on Sunday, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was among Democratic lawmakers who slammed the Trump administration for its treatment of refugees as she issued a reminder that vulnerable people fleeing violence and persecution have the right, codified by domestic and international law, to apply for asylum protection.

After Central American migrants approached the U.S.-Mexico border on Sunday to call attention to awful shelter conditions and request asylum, U.S. Border Patrol agents reportedly fired tear gas into Mexico, forcing parents with toddlers to flee.

India: Eight Naxals, Two Police Personnel Killed in Encounter in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Eight Naxals and two police personnel were killed in an encounter between ultras and security men in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday, police said.

The gunbattle took place at a forest in Kistaram area bordering Telangana, around 500 km from here, when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Sukma’s Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

Eight bodies of Naxals have been found at the encounter spot, he said.

Two District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were also killed in the exchange of fire, the SP said.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot, he said.

Further details were awaited as the encounter was still underway, he added.

Gujarat is being controlled by the traders and rich farmers. It is a marriage between moneyed people and farmers producing  ground nut. This is a combination of Patel and Bania who have a control over the society and its culture. Both function as a part of mercantile class who has a tremendous control over the society, politics and culture. Both of them share the religion of elite which has no association with popular Hinduism. For instance now a day’s people of Gujarat are celebrating the Nabaratra for which they sing  songs and dances known as Dandiya. Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Gujarat & Rajasthan India, and is associated with scenes of Holi, and lila of Krishna and Radha at Vrindavan. It  is no more  a folk song but upgraded by the elite into a grand spectacle with coloured dress and beating of drums and using the  film songs.
